The Challenge
For a first-year Fundamentals of Accounting course, students needed an engaging way to learn basic accounting concepts. Traditional methods risked losing student interest, making it challenging to help learners understand and apply foundational financial principles in a meaningful way.
The Solution
I developed an interactive, scenario-based learning experience set in the fictional town of Accountopia. Students interact with residents and business owners who face various financial situations, allowing them to apply accounting concepts in realistic contexts. The course features interactive activities built in Articulate Storyline and supporting videos created in Vyond, transforming abstract accounting principles into practical, engaging learning experiences.
The Results
Post-course surveys showed that students found the content highly engaging and effective for understanding key accounting concepts. Assessment results demonstrated strong comprehension, and course analytics revealed high completion rates for all interactive media components.
